Introduction to the cases
In this column several cases are presented. When designing a learning scenario with both video technology and collaborative pedagogy, the principles mentioned in this MESHGuide can be combined in various ways. This column considers a subset of these combinations and the corresponding cases.
Each case was implemented by at least two project partners (one representing the HEIs and one the EdTech companies) and exploited collaboration with one or more teachers or ‘teacher educators’ responsible for the field implementations. Thus, each teacher-experimenter had the support of one member of the HEI team to co-design their learning scenario considering collaborative learning principles. One EdTech company also provided a video-based software solution to implement the desired scenario.
Each case was conceived as an intervention study in an authentic context. The VISuAL project included two implementations (iterations) of the co-designed learning scenarios. The first iteration had 18 cases, only 12 of which continued to the second iteration. The second implementation considered the results of the first to improve the scenario designs and assess them again.
