Summary of Learning outcomes
The Learning Metrics Task Force (UNESCO Institute of Statistics, 2012) proposed competencies for learning outcomes for Early Childhood, Primary, and Post-Primary schooling to improve learning opportunities and outcomes for children and youth. Their framework defined Competencies: (knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values that are learned or developed), Domains( broad categories of learning outcomes), Sub-domains ( specific categories of learning outcomes) and Illustrative outcomes (examples of how competencies are demonstrated). Accepting the pedagogy of LTLT should be based on the two processes of ‘discovery of others’ and ‘experience of shared purposes’, many of the learning LTLT outcomes i.e. empathy and tolerance teamwork, and leadership represent the subdomains within Early Childhood Education. Empathy is located in the Social and Emotional Development Domain and is considered demonstrated when a student develops positive view of self and others. While tolerance is not identified directly, Awareness of and Respect for diversity Cooperation falls in the same Domain and is considered demonstrated when a student demonstrates positive, culturally-appropriate interactions with peers and adults. Alternatively Teamwork (referred to as cooperation) and Leadership is located in the Approaches to Learning Domain and is considered demonstrated when a student demonstrates interest and engagement in group experiences.
