Mental Health

Please contact meshguides@batodfoundation.org.uk if you are able to suggest resources or case studies specific to Mental Health for deaf children and young people in the Global South.

Europe - The European Society for Mental Health and Deafness (ESMHD) is an international Non-Government Organisation for the promotion of the positive mental health of deaf people in Europe.

London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is currently delivering a MSc Global Mental Health degree that

  • demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the mental health challenges facing low resource settings
  • devises locally appropriate and feasible strategies to reduce the burden of mental disorders
  • develops research protocols to investigate key issues in global mental health including epidemiological, intervention- and policy-related questions
  • applies research skills to monitor and evaluate mental health programmes

Over time we hope to highlight in this MeshGuide deaf specific projects generated from that MSc course, and other similar courses.

The British Society for Mental Health and Deafness (BSMHD) have been involved in consultations on mental health for the Global South.
